Now....we picked a wedding song, Taking You Home by Don Henley and it's a sweet, serious song, with a touch of humor for us, that emphasizes our past and present. When Herbie originally proposed to me, almost 30 years ago, I said yes and I asked him to "Take me home" which was to Maine, but, he wasn't able to then, he needed to go back out on a fishing trip (commercial fisherman). In the following three weeks, I got cold feet. This wasn't the age of cells phones, there wasn't any way to speak to him or give him the chance to offer any reassurances, so off I went....one of the first runaway brides! LOL! We have both had our ups and downs over the years, each of us ending up in a less than ideal marriage. Would ours have been any better back then? We'll never know. I think we just have to accept that it is right now and thank God for bringing us back together.
Oh, as far as the humor....it seems that a great deal of people have an issue with my name, can't blame them, the thing is 24 letters long! There have been many questions about whether or not I'll (finally) drop my maiden name. Yes, I will. So the line - "I had my name." makes me laugh every time I hear it!
Now, there's this other song, that's far more upbeat and also fits us...so is it wrong to have two??
